TAKE OUR COVID-19 SURVEY

Grape and Wine Industry Specific Information

Message from Whit Winslow, Executive Director NC Wine & Grape Council

NC Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services

Hello everyone,

I know you are all very busy right now, but if you could take a few minutes to complete this survey from WineAmerica on the Economic Impact caused by the Coronavirus. The information you provide will help WineAmerica work with Congress to provide relief to the U.S. wine industry.

Even though everyone is still learning how the Coronavirus will ultimately affect your business, please act quickly to complete this survey to the best of your ability before close of business on Monday, March 23. The information you share in this survey will only be used in aggregate, no identifiable information will be shared outside of the WineAmerica team.

Any questions about this survey should be directed to WineAmerica, Vice President, Michael Kaiser at mkaiser@wineamerica.org.

I’ve had several people reach out to me today seeking clarification regarding customers drinking their bottle purchases outdoors on winery property under EO118. Below I have highlighted the information available to allow each winery to determine the correct actions for their business. I hope this information offers a bit of clarity.

  • Executive Order No. 118 – Section 1.(a)(vi) reads: “…restaurants are restricted to carry-out, drive-through, delivery, and onsite consumption in outdoor seating area, subject to mass gathering restrictions… Bars are directed to close…”
  • Executive Order No. 118 – Section 1.(b) reads: “…restaurants are defined as permitted food establishments, under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 130A-248…”
  •  Executive Order No. 118 – Section 1.(c) reads: “…bars are defined as establishments that are not restaurants and that have a permit to sell alcoholic beverages for onsite consumption…”

Per ABC guidance, “All on-premise sales and consumption must stop. This includes patios and outdoor picnic tables.”
