SkyBit Service Not Available Anymore

Dear Farming Community,

Please see the attached email conversation.

Dear Sir or Madam,

my name is Mark Hoffmann, I am Assistant Professor and Small Fruit Extension Specialist at NC State University in Raleigh, NC.

Many of our commercial fruit and vegetable growers relied on SkyBit. Unfortunately, it seems as that the SkyBit homepage is not accessible anymore. Could you help us to find access to the SkyBit Weather service or to find a similar reliable source?

Thank you very much,

Sincerely,

Mark Hoffmann

Dear Mark Hoffman:

As we shared in a letter dated March 1, 2018, BASF Crop Protection acquired ZedX and

SkyBit in May 2017. Since that time, we have been continuously reviewing the legacy ZedX and SkyBit product offerings as we progress towards a full integration of our legacy business with BASF. Knowing this evaluation could potentially be disruptive to our long-standing and valued customers, we decided to offer SkyBit services free of charge during the 2018 growing season.

After careful consideration, we must, unfortunately, share that BASF and ZedX have jointly decided to discontinue SkyBit services. SkyBit services, as currently offered, will be terminated December 31, 2018.

We wanted to give you sufficient time to find alternative services and to thank you for your business over the past 25 years. We will keep you posted as we make progress going forward in building this new digital ag future and hope to be able to offer you new tools from BASF powered by the ZedX modeling capabilities you have come to know in trust.
